The newly launched website of cabinet secretary is one of the few sites in the government web space that is fully compliant to guidelines for Indian Government Websites. The website is friendly to assistive devices like screen readers and has a host of features that make it accessible to the differently abled. The user can adjust contrast, decrease/increase font size according to their needs and preferences. The whole site can be operated by key board alone. The site, in particular, provides information about the functions of the Cabinet Secretariat and detailed guidance about the allocation of business rules of the Government of India. Within the site, information about the Cabinet Secretariat's Committee on Disputes, Press releases, Tenders, Circulars and RTI are also made available. This easily navigable and visually appealing website of Cabinet Secretariat also render a slew of information from different sources such as the department of Public Grievances, National Authority Chemical Weapons Convention, Department of Performance management and Govt. of India Directory. The Information is provided and updated by Cabinet Secretariat, Govt. of India.

Unique Judicial Service Centre in Jodhpur
Rajasthan's first judicial service center was inaugurated by the Excecutive Chairman,State Legal Service Authority Justice Karni Singh Rathore . Initially the center would provide information about all civil cases of the Rajasthan High Court Jodhpur and later the other courts would be covered. The center would be maintained and developed by NIC would help the common citizens, advocates and the litigants get timely information about the cases. It has been divided into three search categories the details can be retrieved case / party/advocate wise. Inaugurating the center Justice Rathore said that "it is a big leap towards e-courts or paperless courts". He stressed the need for e-courts for the speedy disposal of cases. Appreciating the initiatives taken by NIC in promoting the ICT he said that "the NIC Video Conferencing facility in the courts and the Jails would help immensely in cutting down costs and expenses in bringing the under trials to the court for hearing etc. Sun City Jodhpur has taken the lead in this direction.

National Data Centre, Pune
A Tier-III National Data Centre (NDC) is operational from 16th March 2010 at NIC, Pune. The Data Centre is spread across an area of around 10,000 Sq.ft in the first floor of NIC building. The Data Centre accommodates 137 server racks, 6 NW racks and a SAN set up of 50 TB that can be scalable upto 150 TB. It has multiple power supply and cooling distribution path as per the standards defined in TIA-942 specifications.
Currently it has 26 rack servers and 2 blade enclosures of 8 blades each. WAN/LAN network with state of art data security is setup with CISCO GSR router, Checkpoint Firewall and McAfee IDS/IPS. The computing environment consists of RHEL/Windows Server, PostGreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL etc. The set up will be fully operational by end of June 2010.

Orissa Human Rights Commission put its signature on cyber world with launching of its official website recently.
Justice Radha Krishna Patra, Chairperson, OHRC inaugurated the website in presence of Dr. R.N. Bohidar, IAS, Member, OHRC, Shri Biswajit Mishra, IAS, Secretary, OHRC, Shri A. K. Hota, Technical Director, Shri Ashis Kumar Mahapatra, Scientist-D, Shri Ram Prasad Mishra, NIC & other dignitaries.
This site will create awareness among common man about powers & functions of the Human Right Commission, Protection of Human Right Act-1993, relevant Notifications, guidelines on various rights issues, OHRC training / workshop calendar etc.
A complainant can be able to download the complaint registration form & able to know about how to file complaint with the OHRC.
Inaugurating the site, Chairperson appreciated the effort put in by NIC & informed that soon the online complaint system would be integrated with the website.

Recruitment to Union Public Service Commission
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) was established under Article 315 of the Constitution of India. The commission conducts competitive examinations for recruitment to various services and posts, such as Civil Services, Engineering, Medical and Forest Service, etc.
Recruitment is done through three methods-
* Direct Recruitment
* Promotion
* Transfer
In the Direct Recruitment method, recruitment takes place in the following ways:
Competitive Examination:
Under the Constitution, one of the functions of the Commission is to conduct examinations for appointment to civil services and posts. In addition, the Commission also holds competitive examinations in coordination with the Ministry of Defence for entry into certain Defence Services, through the National Defence Academy, Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and the Officers Training Academy.
The Commission usually conducts over a dozen examinations every year on an all India basis for recruitment to services/posts in various fields, such as Civil Services, Engineering, Medical and Forest Service, etc.
Recruitment by Selection:
* By Interview only - When the number of applicants is very large, the Commission calls short listed candidates for interview on the basis of certain pre-determined criteria related to the job.
* By Written Test Followed by Interview - In this category, there are two types of procedures followed:
1. An objective-type written and/or practical test to test the skill of the candidates followed by Interview, the final selection being decided by Interview, aided by the performance of the candidates in the written test and/or practical test.
2. An objective-type written and/or practical test is conducted to screen the candidates to be called for an interview, the final selection being decided by Interview only.
